November in rural England

This was taken in Brampton, England, in November of 2005. It was only about 4 or 5 in the afternoon, but I was far enough north that the sun was already going down. I like the way the colors of twilight are reflected in the water - I think it has a very tranquil effect.

Sibelius Monument

From Wikipedia: "Jean Sibelius (December 8, 1865 – September 20, 1957) was a Finnish composer of classical music, and one of the most popular composers of the late 19th and early 20th century. His music and genius have also played an important role in forming the Finnish national identity."

I love it when I turn a corner and discover a scene like this one.

Going on a outing

I never knew that swan babies like to ride piggy-back! But if you look closely at Mama in this picture, you'll see a tiny grey fluff-ball between her wings.

The photo is a little grainy, because my point-and-shoot digital camera has only 3x optical zoom, so I cropped and zoomed in PhotoShop to make the birds a little larger.

Stockholm, June 2006

This is a photo taken near the steps of the Stockholm Town Hall. It was taken on June 22, the day after the Summer Solstice. Despite the cloudy sky, it was quite warm that day, and the city was nearly empty - everyone was on holiday.

April Twilight

The composition is not the best, but I like the effect of the sunlight on the leaves.

Sunlight on the vines

Rudesheim is a little city in the mid-Rhine district in Germany, noted for its vineyards. I love the way the sunshine glows through the leaves in the late afternoon.

Snowy Mountains in Australia

No, they are not snowy at this time of year. And they are not as steep or craggy as mountains in other parts of the world. But they are lovely just the same.

River View

This is a view of the River Ouse, outside the city of York in England. I'm rather happy with the way the colors turned out.
